The Flex MBA program gives emerging managers an opportunity to earn an MBA with minimal disruption to their professional lives. Students attend classes delivered in-person or online during the program. The Flex MBA program enrolls new students in fall, winter, and spring quarters. Students that begin the program in fall attend classes during the Fall-Spring academic year and complete the program within 33 months. Students that begin the program in winter or spring attend classes for nine consecutive quarters, including summers, and complete the program within 27 months. Students also have the opportunity to accelerate their program to graduate in 5-8 quarters.
The program consists of both core courses and electives, allowing students to establish a solid foundation of traditional business skills and then customize their education based on personal interests and goals. The curriculum provides constant interaction between information presented in the classroom and what is being used on the job, reinforcing and enhancing the student’s learning experience.

The Paul Merage School of Business requires prospective Flex MBA students to meet the University of California's general requirements for graduate admissions, along with additional specific standards. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution with a minimum overall GPA of B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale). While there are no specific prerequisite courses, the Admissions Committee values evidence of quantitative proficiency and strongly recommends the completion of college-level mathematics and statistics courses. Furthermore, undergraduate courses in social sciences and information and computer sciences are advised.
Prospective students are required to submit a Statement of Purpose, approximately three pages in length, detailing their interest in pursuing a graduate degree in management specifically at the Paul Merage School of Business. This statement, along with a resume and any other pertinent written materials, forms a crucial component of the evaluation process. Applicants should have at least three years of progressively successful work experience, be employed, preferably in a managerial role, and submit three confidential letters of recommendation. A personal interview with the Program Director is mandatory. The Admissions Committee evaluates all submitted materials, including test scores, academic transcripts, and recommendations, to assess the candidate's potential for graduate work in management, general management capability, contribution to the educational process, commitment to the program, and professional communication skills. For applicants whose undergraduate degree is from a foreign country, a minimum TOEFL score of 550 is required.
