2023-24 Edition

Latin, Minor

The Department offers minors in Classical Civilization, Greek, and Latin for students who plan to follow a shorter but formally recognized program of study in Classics.  The minor program in Latin enables the students to gain an in-depth knowledge of the Latin language and literature and the ancient Roman culture. Students who minor in Latin have many of the same advantages as our majors, and benefit from being part of our inclusive community as they develop their study of classical civilization with emphasis on the Latin language and Roman culture. Students further benefit from enhancing their critical thinking, creative and historically-informed problem-solving, which can effectively complement their majors and studies in other areas, including Humanities, Social Sciences, STEM or professional fields.
