The Sue and Bill Gross School of Nursing offers a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Nursing Science, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.). The Pre-licensure programs, which includes the baccalaureate degree and master's degree, are scholarly, evidence-based, clinical practice programs, preparing students to take the NCLEX-RN licensing examination upon graduation. The M.S. is a Master’s Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN) with a concentration in Community and Population Health Nursing, which prepares graduates with research and evidence-based practice competency, leadership role preparation, and health policy and advocacy skills for health promotion and disease prevention to support underserved populations. The Ph.D. prepares academic nurse scholars for research and teaching careers. The Ph.D. program advances the scholarly discipline of nursing through development of theory and empirical research, contributes to the growing body of knowledge in the field of nursing, and creates the future academic leaders of the nursing profession. The Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program is a professional practice-focused doctorate designed to develop competencies for advanced clinical leadership roles in nursing and healthcare. Nurses who complete the D.N.P. program will be prepared for career opportunities in an increasingly complex and changing healthcare environment. The program design and curriculum is geared toward working nurses and capitalizes on the educational richness of the College of Health Sciences.
