Psychology, Minor

Students with a variety of interests (e.g., business, education, health care, and criminology) may seek a wider exposure to psychology. The flexibility of the minor in psychology offers the opportunity to pursue deeper understanding areas of psychology relevant to an individual's field.

Psychology Minor Requirements

Requirements for the minor in psychology are met by taking seven or eight psychology courses (28 or 32 units) as specified below:

A. Complete the following:
PSYCH 7A Introduction to Psychology (for the 28-unit minor)
or
PSYCH 9A- 9B- 9C Psychology Fundamentals
and Psychology Fundamentals
and Psychology Fundamentals (for the 32-unit minor)
B. Select three upper-division psychology courses from the following:
Abnormal Psychology
Developmental Psychology
History of Psychology
Personality Theories
Perception and Sensory Processes
Cognitive Science
Learning and Decision Making
Human Memory
Psychology of Language
Introduction to Cognitive Neuroscience
Brain Disorders and Behavior
C. Complete one of the following:
For students who took PSYCH 7A: Select three additional psychology courses (four or more units each) no more than one of which is a lower-division course.
For students who took PSYCH 9A, PSYCH 9B, PSYCH 9C: select two additional upper-division psychology courses (four or more units each). PSYCH 190–199 cannot be used to fulfill this requirement.
D. In addition, the school mathematics and computer science requirement (school requirement 1) must be satisfied.
